The Broad

The The Broad , is located at 221 S Grand Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90012. The museum opened in 2015 and was founded by philanthropists Eli and Edythe Broad. Designed by the architectural firm Diller Scofidio + Renfro, the building is notable for its distinctive “veil and vault” design, featuring an airy, honeycomb-like exterior. The Broad houses a prominent collection of contemporary art, with over 2,000 works from the postwar period to the present. Notable artists in the collection include Jeff Koons, Cindy Sherman, and Jean-Michel Basquiat. The museum is known for its vibrant installations, such as Yayoi Kusama‘s “Infinity Mirrored Room” and Jeff Koons’ “Balloon Dog (Blue).” The Broad offers free general admission, enhancing accessibility to contemporary art, and hosts rotating special exhibitions, public programs, and educational initiatives.
