New York City Ballet

The New York City Ballet (NYCB), located at the David H. Koch Theater in Lincoln Center, New York City, is one of the foremost dance companies in the world. Founded in 1948 by choreographer George Balanchine and arts patron Lincoln Kirstein, NYCB is renowned for its dedication to performing a wide repertoire of ballets, ranging from classical to contemporary works. The company is particularly known for its strong association with Balanchine’s choreography, which forms a significant part of its performance season. NYCB stages approximately 60 ballets each year, showcasing the talents of its dancers and the innovation of its choreographers. The company’s annual season includes beloved productions such as “The Nutcracker” during the holiday season and various mixed-repertory programs. NYCB also emphasizes educational outreach, offering programs that introduce new audiences to the art of ballet and support the development of young dancers. With a commitment to excellence and artistic innovation, the New York City Ballet continues to be a leading force in the world of dance, contributing significantly to the cultural fabric of New York City and the global ballet community.
